I was looking for our property taxes and while looking decided to clean as my diet pill kicked in....(Help me make them work and encourage me to take smaller portions. Thanks) In my journey cleaning I came across a workbook I started a long time ago but wanted to share some stuff out of it for your benefit or pleasure.
Believe in God
Ephesians1:11-23
11In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:
12That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.
13In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
14Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.
15Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints,
16Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers;
17That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:
18The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
19And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,
20Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,
21Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:
22And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,
23Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.
You had to believe in God to be saved, are you still an active believer? What promise is given to those who continue believing as stated in vs. 19? EXCEEDING GREATNESS of His power. Amen!
God gave us His word not only for our relationship with Him through believing but another reason.
2Timothy 3:16-17
16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
The word tells us that
1) God is who He says He is.
2) God can do what He says He can do
3) I am who God says I am
4) I can do all things through Christ
5) God's word is alive and ACTIVE in me
Read these verses in Ephesians and when done with each one, jot down what each verse tells you about the concept of believing. (My answers)
Ep 1:15 For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, (to trust is to believe)
Ep 2:8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God (to actively believe)
Ep 3:12 In him and through faith in him we may approach God with freedom and confidence. (trusting God's words of promise)
Ep 3:17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, (to keep God's words in our hearts & minds)
Ep 4:5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism; (baptism in the spirit- a seal that a person is a member of the body of Christ)
Ep 4:13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. (Maturity Truth and Love)
Ep 6:16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. (God's wholy word will shield us every time)
Ep 6:23 Peace to the brothers, and love with faith from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. (Knowing God's LOVE is active in those who keep the faith)
