On strike

Our devotion last night was about a mother who went on strike. As I read that with Alexis and came to the end she told me that she still didn't understand the concept of the mother being on strike and yet she also had the pleasure of hearing her dad read the same devotion that morning.
I went on to tell her that the mother in the story had a couple sons who were turning out like their dad, a chauvinistic. Although we don't have that problem in this house we do have the problem of not being thankful for what each of us do to help out in this house. As a mother I want to teach Alexis how to be a well rounded (not fat :) lol ) and know the basics, cooking cleaning you know the normal "woman's job", but is it really the woman's job?
I'm thankful that I have a husband who was raised by a single parent (not by choice) who taught him the how to's of the woman's job, and quite well I may add. :) He can out do my cleaning anyday but I say thats from the OCD in him. :) He says it caused from when he was a child and he wanted a clean house and his mother was not able due to health reason clean house and the 3 children above him didn't feel the same need.
Our lesson last night was there is no job that each of us can't do ourself nor expect one to do but rather do it out of love and respect for eachother and to ourself.
So on that note don't forget to take a minute or more and thank your wife/hubby/children for all the little things they have done to help out. Last night my hubby came home and he said to me..."you didn't clean the house did you?" "Does it look like it", I asked sarcastically. He said "No", I smiled and said "your right!" ;) See yesterday Alexis was sick and I was, well PMSing so I did take the day off and the house is a MESS. :)
I pray everyone has a blessed day!
Love you all a ton,
Deb
